Mathew holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (majored in Economics) from the London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom and a Diploma in Law from the City University of London, United Kingdom. Mathew was called to the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple as a Barrister-at-Law in 1988.

Thereafter, Mathew commenced his pupillage at Messrs. Lind Willie Wong & Chin (previously known as Skinner Lind Willie Wong & Chin) and has been with the firm ever since. He was admitted to the High Court of Sabah and Sarawak as an Advocate in 1989. 

With almost four decades of experience in the legal arena, Mathew has a wide spectrum of knowledge and experiences. His earlier legal practice concentrates on general litigation and is at present focused on the realms of conveyancing and corporate law.
